Welcome to the new Spec Miata Classifieds site! We are JUST getting started so please forgive how crude and basic this is.
The good news is that you can register and start using the site immediately, for FREE. We don't even have the rules typed up yet, but the main one is simple, racers can post anything they wish to buy and sell at no charge. Please use the Spec Miata sections only for cars, parts and accessories applicable to racing an SM. (You can post your old refrigerator in the General Classifieds section.
) Vendors can introduce themselves with a Vendor Profile, make product announcements, link to their website, and participate in Q&A about what they offer, all at no charge until/unless we grow too big to run this on a shoestring. (At that time we may implement a nominal monthly charge if you see real value in the site and want to continue using it, or seek other means to cover increased expenses such as banner ads from outside the SM community. Hopefully the cost of space and bandwidth continues to fall and none if that will be necessary, but I’m being up front about the possibilities because we are committed to the site being free for individual users.) More rules will follow, but they will be designed primarily to prevent people from swamping the site with more than their share of self-promotion.
We'll add and remove features as we hear from you about what you like and what you don't. Some of these ideas might seem crazy and they may not work if people aren't interested, or grossly abuse the freedom that we offer.
For now everything is being done with various boards in this forum. I'd like to categorize the classifieds and improve how they are presented, but for now I wanted to get this thing off the ground ad see if there is enough interest to justify the effort. We also plan to develop a comprehensive vendor list and perhaps even a cross-reference for parts and services. Ideally, this becomes your first source for everything you need to participate in Spec Miata.
What's in this for us? Beats me, it just seemed like the thing to do!
